Dream of ditching your desk? Becoming your own boss sounds like a dream, but running a business can have negative effects on your mental health and happiness, according to a recent Gallup poll.

Entrepreneurs are 6 percent more likely to be depressed than people who work office jobs. That makes sense: Since a larger portion of their self-worth is connected to the success of their venture, self-starters become vulnerable to anxiety and sadness more easily.

Don’t call the shots at work? Over-extending yourself on the job can still negatively affect your well-being, in spite of your best efforts to be healthy. In fact, a recent University of Texas study found when you’re stressed, your muscles don’t bounce back from your workout as quickly. This slower reaction makes your time in the gym less effective for gains and metabolic boost.
