9 Ways to Think Positively in the Worst of Times

Stumbling along the road of life is inevitable. Whether you let those hurdles take you down with them or whether you’ll overcome them, is completely upon you. Choice and rationality are the best gifts of us humans. So, now it’s you who has to take the call – optimism or pessimism. What will it be? Here are proven ways of staying positive in the worst of times.

1. Do not neglect your health

Tough times really drain you of all your energy. Absolutely understandable. But, see to it that you don’t delve on what has already been done. You cannot undo it, right? This will just take a toll on your mental as well as physical health. And if health is lost, everything is lost. Eat well, exercise, do things that you enjoy.

2. Take out the ‘poison’ from your life

There will be many who will criticize your every move. Your life is just a talking matter for them. Ignore such people and limit your contact with them. Avoid their negative impact, their pity and don’t take their opinions to heart. Just be sure of yourself and what you want from life. Leave the rest to time.

3. Accept struggle with grace

Life is not a bed of roses. It will throw problems at you from every side. Don’t get bogged down. Instead get up each time you fall and let God know that you have it in you. Just stop worrying about those problems that you can’t find solutions to. If they have to get sorted they will, eventually.

4. Let experience teach you

Adversity teaches you important lessons. Going through difficult times toughens you up. Remember, anything that does not kill you makes you much stronger than you were. You won’t know the sweetness of joy unless you’ve tasted sorrow!

5. Don’t sit idle any time

An idle mind is a devil’s workshop. Never dwell in the past. Don’t brood on what should have happened, but think about what you can still do. Activity is the best cure for depression and pessimism that often accompany difficult times. Keep yourself occupied with friends, family, house work, books, music, pets and whatever interests you.

6. Believe that you are moving forward

Even if you feel that your life’s come to a standstill, keep going. You may not realize it now but you are progressing gradually towards your dream. If you pause and think back, you are no longer the same old self you once were. So, have faith in a brighter and better tomorrow.

7. Live your life your way

Listen to your heart, not to others. Lead your life the way you want. Make your own decisions. They may not be right always, but they’ll surely teach you something. No one but you should be responsible for your life. Set aside your fears and chase your dreams harder than ever before.

8. Don’t cringe away from risks

Every day is a new challenge. Nothing risked, nothing gained. Without that you’ll be like a frog in the pond. Explore all your sides and widen your horizons. Learn something new each day.

9. Count your blessings and have faith

Count every single blessing that you get. Thank God for giving you another day to follow your passions. Don’t feel sad when you don’t get what you want. It can be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes not getting what you want can be a wonderful stroke of luck. Maybe God has something much bigger and better in store for you!
