If your skin is oily, it means that your sebaceous glands are too active. This also will lead to clogged pores and skin conditions like blackheads and spots. We give you a list of things that you can keep in mind while taking care of your oily skin.

1. Avoid scrubbing

Scrubbing could prove too harsh for your skin. It could also cause irritation and exacerbate acne.

2. Moisturize

This may sound odd but oily skin can become dry and needs moisturizing as well. If oily skin becomes dry it can lead to additional oil production. Go for a moisturizer that is oil-free and light.

3. Avoid frequent washes

Washing your face twice a day is enough to get rid of the oil build up and dirt. If you wash more than that, it could stimulate extra oil production. Also, avoid using cold water and opt for warm water to wash your face.

4. Your diet

What you eat has a direct effect on your skin. If you have an oily skin take a diet rich in proteins, vitamins B5 and B2, green leafy vegetables, and fresh fruit. Also, a good intake of water helps in flushing out the toxins. Restrict your intake of sugar, salt, junk food, and unhealthy fats.

5. Cleanse

It is extremely important to keep oily skin well-cleansed. You can do it twice a day to get rid of excess oil and clear your pores of debris. You may also tone your skin after cleansing.

6. Use sunscreen

If you want to protect your oily skin from the harmful UV rays, opt for a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more. Also, make sure the sunscreen does not have any moisturizer in it.

7. Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid exfoliates the oil producing glands and the follicles and also reduces the amount of oil secreted by the skin. So, when you are choosing a face wash or a cream, look for this ingredient.

8. Ditch the foundation

Keep your makeup to a minimum and if possible, avoid using foundation. The makeup will enhance the clogging of the pores and will make your skin more prone to pimples. You can opt for tinted moisturizers, powder, or a plain concealer.
